Investment Style

Dare Capital Management maintains an ongoing and up-to-date investment universe of stocks, mutual funds, and cost-effective options for fixed income investments.

The company's investment style is a synthesis of Contrarian Value, where we seek to buy undervalued or out of favor companies with quality prospects, and "Large Cap Growth at a Reasonable Price" companies--that is, market leading companies whose stock trades at or near the broader market multiple on a price-earnings basis. We strive, however, to remain perpetually skeptical, to maintain a defensive posture in the face of market exuberance, and thus stay "ready for a blow", as the old-time Outer Bankers would say.

We use a client-specific asset allocation model but may incorporate tactical asset allocation when it's appropriate for a client to further fine-tune asset class percentages within a portfolio. What this means is that we try to maintain a general asset allocation model for client portfolios based on age, goals, risk tolerance, etc., but, when appropriate for a client, will take advantage of opportunities resulting from the condition of the broader economy and/or the market.

Dare Capital Management strives to conduct business in a tax and capital gains-efficient manner, with low to moderate portfolio turnover. Buy and sell decisions are based on a variety of factors including changes to a client's financial situation or risk profile, tax and capital gains management, fundamental and/or technical stock/fund analysis, and macroeconomic/ broader market factors.
